The best LIC policy for a boy child
LIC does not price or structure its child plans differently for a son. The same plans, entry ages, premiums and benefits apply as for a daughter.
So the useful question is not which plan is “for boys”, but which structure matches when you will need the money and what happens if your own income stops.
Same plans, same terms
All of the current LIC child plans are gender-neutral in eligibility, premium rate and benefit. The only gender-linked term anywhere in the current child range is a policy loan interest concession under Amritbaal for a female child’s education — which does not apply here.
That means nothing is lost by choosing on structure alone, which is what actually determines whether the plan does its job.
Choosing on structure instead
Three things decide which plan fits a son’s future costs:
Lump sum or instalments
An endowment plan pays once at maturity. A money-back plan pays at intervals through the term, which suits education costs arriving over several years.
Protecting the payer, not just the child
A child plan insures the child. If the goal is to guarantee the money arrives even if you are not there, term cover on your own life is usually the more direct answer.
The waiver rider
The Premium Waiver Benefit Rider is what keeps a child policy alive if the proposer dies. It is inexpensive relative to what it protects.

Common questions
Do LIC child plans cost more for a boy?
No. Premium rates for LIC’s child plans do not vary by the child’s gender.
Which is better, a child plan or term insurance on myself?
They do different jobs. A child plan builds a guaranteed amount for a future date. Term insurance on the earning parent makes sure the family is not derailed if that income stops. Many families need the second before the first.
Can I take more than one policy for the same child?
Yes, subject to LIC’s underwriting limits on total sum assured for a minor life. Those limits are applied by LIC, not by the advisor.
Not sure which of these applies to you?
Five questions, no account needed, and it will tell you honestly if nothing fits rather than pushing the closest match.
